Hello, we're back! This year the x-change team are heading up to Aberdeen from the 4th - 9th of September for the 2012 British Science Festival and the LIVE x-change show!
Our new team is starting to get ready for this fantastic event, and we want to get you all excited too! Prepare for some in-depth science, madness, laughs and demos as we bring the scientific creme de la creme of the festival to you each day. And for those who aren’t able to make it to Aberdeen, do not fear! That is what this site is for! After each show we will be putting up the podcasts, blogs, photos and videos so that you can enjoy it too.
After his debut x-change at last year’s British Science Festival, Richard Hollingham couldn’t stay away. This year he is back to host our live show, and will be introducing the scientists behind some of the most cutting-edge research presented at the Festival. As well as this we will be hosting musical talents, having on-stage (potentially controversial) debates, individual conversations, and Richard will probably be used as a volunteer for some of the demos.
We have decided to shake things up a little this year by introducing a theme to each live show. We can’t say any more than that as the show is pretty much built on the fly, with the team running around to find the hidden talents at the Festival. However, we do suggest that you keep an eye out for the Saturday Demo Spectacular! A cabaret of the finest science communicators showing us their best, scariest and most exhilarating demos!
Over the coming weeks we will be introducing this year’s team of fabulous volunteers who will be running around the festival in some fetching bright pink t-shirts – you won’t be able to miss them!
